Qualifications

 
The Philadelphia Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. offers annual scholarships to students of all backgrounds pursuing higher education, regardless of race, creed, religious affiliation, or gender.

The minimum requirements are:

  • Applied to an accredited two or four-year college or university
  • Minimum “B” average (3.0)
  • Attends a Philadelphia County High School

  

The following documents must be submitted with the completed application:

1. Most recent school transcript with grades from September through December 2024. Philadelphia School District seniors can submit an 11th-grade year transcript if the first reporting period for this year isn’t available.

2. Most recent report card.

3. Write a statement of your educational objectives and life goals (500 words or less). 

4. Two (2) letters of recommendation. (Family members are excluded)               

(One letter must be from a school staff member, i.e., teacher, counselor, dean of students, etc.  The second letter can be from your pastor, employer, coach, community leader, etc.)  

5. Falsifying any aspects of this application will remove it from consideration. 

 

DEADLINE

Applications must be submitted by 11:59 pm on February 28, 2025.

Incomplete applications and those submitted after February 28, 2025, will not be reviewed. 

Applicants who are selected for the interview process will be notified via email.

Confidentiality Notice to Applicants

Please be advised that any material you send to the Scholarship Committee of the Philadelphia Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. will not be forwarded to any outside agency other than the University/College for which you are attending if you are selected for a Scholarship.  For security purposes the Scholarship Committee will not request any “secured” information from you electronically.
