2018 YOUTH SUMMER MISSION TRIPS

Join us this summer for an amazing adventure!

Oregon Pilgrimage - Pacific Northwest

Current 11th-12th graders

June 8-17

Cost:  $1,100 or $550 w/banquet participation + $ for food (deposit:  $50; 1st payment of $525 or $250 by 3/25; final payment of $525 or $250 by 5/21)

“Boot camp for the soul”—that’s what some have called it.  If you have ever really hoped to connect with God but struggled because of all of the "stuff" of normal life, then this trip is for you.  Does the thought of climbing a volcanic mountain, hiking back into a lava cave, or standing on the edge of a cliff looking down on the blue Pacific Ocean get your blood pumping?  Tent-camping in rugged outdoor locations, group activities, quiet times, meaningful conversations, and campfire talks are all things that we hope will be transformational as God speaks into your hearts and minds.  This trip is a long-term investment in life!  There is an application process for this trip.   Applications for this trip are due by Sunday, February 4.  Priority will be given to students actively engaged in CMC ministry.

Capacity:  12 students, 4 adults

Camp Sunshine

Camp Blodgett, West Olive
 July 30-August 2 or August 3-6

Camp Henry, Newaygo
July 1-4 or July 5-8

(for 16-year-old males & 17-year-old females & older)

No Cost!

How about serving as a counselor at Camp Sunshine for an awesome opportunity to impact a camper’s life? You will be paired up with one camper for the entire three-night, four-day session.

Camp Sunshine offers people ages 12 – 50 with mild to moderate cognitive impairments the opportunity to attend summer camp in a safe, caring, and inclusive environment. Through positive words and actions, the camp provides an atmosphere that honors all people with total acceptance and unconditional love.

It is an amazing, transformational experience and one that has changed the lives of many CMC members and students! Talk to Caleb Nykamp for more information and/or for a reference on the counselor application form. Caleb and Rita Nykamp will be at the July 1-4 session at Camp Henry if you’d like to join them!

Are you ready to dive into community, faith, and life?  Do you like adventure?  If “yes,” then prepare yourself for a week of having fun with friends as you raft down some of the world’s greatest whitewater river rapids!  This trip will challenge you spiritually, emotionally, and physically as you are immersed in the stunning beauty of the New River Gorge National Park located in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains.  You won’t want to miss out on this adventure of a lifetime!

Capacity:  25 students, 10 adults

Nashville with CSM* - Nashville, TN

Current 8th-12th graders

June 24-29

Cost:  $700 or $350 w/banquet participation (deposit:  $50; 1st payment of $325 or $150 by 3/25; final payment of $325 or $150 by 6/3)

Although Nashville is most well known as home to America’s country music industry, there is a contrasting side.  Many of its folks are living off minimum wage in a city requiring twice that income to survive.  From CSM’s host site, Eastland Baptist Church, groups of students and leaders will go out daily to assist with summer day camp programming for children and youth from low-income neighborhoods, pass out water and hygiene bags to the homeless, help with distributing food at Loaves and Fishes, and more.  The evenings will include a devotional time, worship, and reflection on the day’s activities!

*Center for Student Missions (CSM), a non-profit inter-denominational Christian mission organization that focuses on building bridges from the suburbs to the urban centers in the US.  Since its inception nearly 30 years ago, its focus has been to give youth groups and churches a life-changing, eye-opening, and faith-building mission experience for youth.
