Make Waves Scholarship 2021-22
Sponsored by Musicians In Solidarity
The Make Waves Scholarship provides financial assistance for students in grades 2-12 in the Portland Metro Area by paying for private music lessons (30 min. weekly) for the school year. We believe that everyone should have access to music lessons with a skilled, engaging teacher and musical role model.
Make Waves is made possible through a partnership between Musicians In Solidarity and Ethos Music Center. Founded in 1998, Ethos provides group classes, private lessons, summer camps and music outreach programs to over 7,000 youth across Oregon. Ethos has been named one of the top 50 after school arts programs by the President’s Commission for the Arts and Humanities on 8 separate occasions. Ethos’ programs and services reflect the cultural diversity of our community, and do not discriminate on the basis of religion, race, color, ethnicity, sex, gender identity or expression, national origin, sexual orientation, age, disability, or veteran status.
The teachers and coordinators of the Ethos and Make Waves realize the difficulties of direct instruction during the pandemic and are taking all precautions to secure the safety of students seeking lessons. Ethos' current plan is to attempt opening for in-person lessons Oct 4th for vaccinated students. For students who choose to learn remotely, and for unvaccinated students, lessons will be virtual. Once you have completed your form, you will be contacted by Ethos for scheduling!
