Program Coordinator

Princeton in Asia (PiA) believes in the power of person-to-person diplomacy and strives to shape a world where individuals share a mutual appreciation and respect for our planet’s diversity of cultures and perspectives. Since 1898, we’ve placed over 3,400 people in immersive fellowships and internships in countries throughout Asia. The cross-cultural understanding developed through these posts actively and effectively builds bridges between the U.S. and Asia.

OVERVIEW

PiA’s programs are grounded in our core Fellow values of transformation, immersion, relationship building, humility, mutuality and interdependence, and contributing to the community. As we steadily relaunch in-person programming, we seek to maximize the immersive experience for Fellows and interns; diversify our portfolio of posts to achieve greater balance across geographies (East Asia, Southeast Asia, Central Asia, and South Asia) and issue areas (arts and culture, education, economic development, environmental sustainability, public health, sports, STEM, and peace, justice and access to information); strengthen training and health and safety support systems for all participants; increase financial accessibility; and broaden our recruiting outreach across a wider list of private and public colleges across the United States, including Minority Serving Institutions.

We are looking for a Program Coordinator with a passion for building bridges and transformative experiences. Reporting to the Senior Program Director, the Program Coordinator is responsible for managing program participants and communications, and will contribute to successful recruitment, selection, and relationship-building among diverse stakeholders. The position is expected to begin in late August.

It also offers valuable background and exposure to an individual with any career interests involving Asia. Princeton in Asia offers professional development opportunities and pathways for career growth.

  • Managing PiA Fellows and Interns, including pre-departure preparation and ongoing support during program participation.
  • Organizing, registering participants in, and contributing to annual orientation and participant development programs, and ensuring that programs contribute to a vision of an equitable, inclusive, and anti-racist PiA.

  • Supporting the Advancement and Program Teams in communicating about Program work to Trustees, university partners, donors, alumni, and other important constituencies, and building community and affinity for PiA within these constituencies.
  • Assisting Program leadership in collecting and processing data and feedback from surveys, reports, and applications to contribute to program evaluation and improvement.
  • Contributing to administrative activities, including managing databases of program participants and other stakeholders, maintaining software platforms, and managing communications with program participants, including drafting messages, circulating materials, and scheduling meetings and development activities.
  • Supporting board committee work to address organizational initiatives and priorities, such as health, safety and welfare, and/or diversity, equity, and inclusion, including reporting on Program activities and benchmarks, scheduling meetings, taking notes, and following up with written communications.
  • Assisting the Program Team in setting the tone and vision for the program.
