Please review the following instructions carefully as you prepare your abstract.  Changes have been made.

Abstracts are not to not exceed 350 words, excluding title.  Titles should not exceed 300 characters.  Authors’ names and institutions are not be included in the title or abstract but are to be submitted elsewhere in the submission. 


Authors must identify which category is appropriate for your abstract.  The following categories of abstracts are suitable for submission:

  • Research (e.g., clinical trials, laboratory studies, translational studies, descriptive studies, qualitative studies)

  • Quality Improvement Projects and Initiatives

  • Clinical Practice (e.g., best clinical practice exemplar, case study, disease management, palliative care (non-research), survivorship (non-research), symptom management (non-research)

  • Program Development/Project (e.g., workforce, infrastructure, workflow)

 

Projects must be completed – incomplete projects will not be accepted. 

Illustrations, tables or bullet points are not permitted in the abstract.

 

Research, Evidence-Based Projects, and Quality Initiative Abstracts must address each of the following areas:

  • Purpose of the project

  • Relevant background – why is this a problem? What does the literature tell us?

  • Methods - what did you do to conduct the study/project?

  • Data analysis – what statistical tests were used?

  • Results – what did the data reveal?

  • Implications – how might these data be used to change practice or guide further research? 

 

Clinical Practice Abstracts must address each of the following areas:

  • Thorough description of the clinical presentation or situation

  • Synthesis of relevant literature

  • Description of intervention(s) provided

  • Outcome of the intervention/situation

  • Implications for practice (clinical/administrative)

Program Development/Project must address each of the following areas:

  • Brief description of problem or needs assessment that led to developing program/project – why was the program/project needed?

  • Description of the program/project – provide the content of the program/project.  Who was involved in developing the program/project?

  • Implementation – How was the program/project implemented?  Was a pilot used? 

  • Evaluation – What metrics were used to evaluate the impact of the program/project?

  • Outcome – What outcomes were achieved?

 

Note:  Each abstract will be graded based on the extent each of the above criteria were met.  Any omission will result in a lower score.  All abstracts are scored by a blind-review process. 

  • Abstracts must be free from commercial bias; promotional abstracts will not be accepted.  Data from for-profit or industry sources are not permitted.

  • Accepted abstracts will be presented as e-posters. E-posters will be submitted as PowerPoint slides (5 slides maximum).  Authors will be asked to record a five-minute presentation of their poster.  Posters will be available for viewing throughout the meeting.  Details regarding this recording will be forthcoming. 

  • All authors of accepted abstracts will be required to complete a disclosure form as delineated on the abstract submission form.
