The 2025 Dog and Pony Show at A Novel Experience

Be a part of a tradition at A Novel Experience! It's our 18th juried photography show featuring man's best friend, and the noble horse, mule, and donkey! If you have a great shot of a dog, or an equine, or both, enter it for this juried show that will hang during the month of February. Author, photographer, and Emmy winner Ray Sullivan returns again as our 2025 juror--and he'll be on hand for the Juror's Talk (along with the CoCo's dogs for adoption) at the show's Reception on February 22nd.

We do this show every year and we donate a portion of the profits to one of our local rescue groups who do so much to care for dogs--and, horses--in distress. We hope you'll come and be a part of the Reception. It's always a fantastic mix of photographers, photo fans, dog lovers, and horse lovers. We'll award first, second, and third prizes and honorable mentions which will be chosen by Ray from the hanging work.

Pick up to 4 of your favorite images--either dogs, horses, or both. The deadline is Sunday, January 19th at midnight. If Ray picks one or more of your images, we'll let you know by January 26th--we'll send you all the information for the show. (You'll have until February 17th to get them to A Novel Experience by car, plane, or train.) The work can be framed, or matted. And, because we know the price of vet bills continue to go up, we're not charging an entry fee this year!

All entries are submitted using this online form. Please complete the form and upload your image files You may enter up to four images.

Before completing this form, be sure that you:

1. Will be able to meet the requirements of the show.

2. Format your photo files to meet the size requirements specified below.

3. Re-name your photo files to conform to the naming requirements specified below.

Photo File Size and Format

It is REQUIRED that your photo files meet the following specifications and naming format. Photo files not meeting these requirements may be ineligible for consideration.

1. JPEG files
2. 1280 pixels on the longest side of the image
3. 2.0 MB or smaller files size for each image

Photo Titles

Below, you will type in the title of each photo you submit. Please make all efforts to give each image a unique name instead of generic titles such "Image 1"; "Untitled 1"; etc. It helps us immensely when we are creating the jurors list! Titles are limited in length to 55 characters or less.

Photo File Names

It is important that all photo files submitted be named in a consistent format. Improperly named files may be ineligible. It is suggested that you rename your entry photo files before you complete the online entry form and save them in an easy-to-find folder. Please use the following naming convention, which includes your name and the photo title.

YourFirstName YourLastName_Photo Title

Example file names include:

John Doe_Georgia Snow
Jane Smith_Southern Woods

Note that there are spaces between your first and last names and the words in the photo title. Make sure to put an underscore between your name and the title (no spaces). In the section below, browse to your computer to identify your files’ locations and then click “upload” to attach each to this form.
